Rhonda SG It's really crazy when Specialists do not get the pay they deserve. It happens a lot in Singapore, sadly. Some professions just aren't remunerated well, even though they sorely deserve it!
elindra SG Yeah SIA is one of the worst paymasters for Aircraft Engineers It used to be good but they cut out alot of things lor The engineer union is not as strong as the pilots so they had to get alot of paycuts They are still looking to cut the engineers pay further (BTW SO already had like a $1k pay cut ok) And best part is they cut the engineers' pay and increase management salary
av98m SG That's the worldwide trend today. Management keeps raising their own salaries and bonuses while trying their best to screw the other ranks. Heck, cutting manpower cost is one of their KPIs. The more workers they screw, the more bonuses they get.
Rhonda SG I knew a few social workers in Singapore due to my work. It's not an easy job because some Singaporeans can be so rude to social workers! They talk to them with a holier-than-thou attitude and are very unreasonable and derogatory in the way they communicate to them. Social Workers, like Nurses, Police, Teachers, etc are amongst the professionals with the highest levels of burnout. Actually, I think anyone in Customer Service in Singapore would experience high burnout levels, come to think of it.

sbst275 SG Actually... The times have changed Last time in poly hardly there's a chance to get to uni... The new gen are lucky... Furthermore, they are opening up more and more places for them in uni as time goes by

Rhonda SG Singapore is sitting on a ticking time-bomb. The reason why Singapore got to where we are today is because of the important People Resource. Once we start having a brain drain, the trouble starts! Things are just going to get worse. And they don't even bother to try to improve the situation for working professionals! It's going to be too little, too late, someday.
elindra SG ST Engineering There is another but I'm not too sure Btw MAS is paying better than SIA In fact alot of engineers from SIA jumped ship to MAS No la, our ministers mentality is import foreign talents Plus they cheaper too

av98m SG Exactly!! The customer service people are the scapegoats for companies' stupid policies. They get abused for dumbass policies by management and when customers complain management will blame them if they cannot settle the issues raised.
